Color variations range from beige to almost white in the sapwood to full-bodied brown, making hard maple the lightest-toned hardwood species. The wood changes color moderately over time, becoming gold tinged. This wood has a hardness rating of 1 450 in the Janka test.
PREMIUM - The lightly contrasting appearance of this grade includes a selection of natural tones of the species that blend together harmoniously. Slight to moderate contrasts among boards.
CLASSIC - The contrasting appearance of this grade is the result of a mixture of all the natural shades of the species dominated by full-bodied tones. Moderate to pronounced variations among boards.
